Welcome to the Dragon Gear Guide
This Guide is meant to serve as a refreshing crash course for both new and old players.
When it comes to dragon gear, whether it's runes, glyphs, relics, or even the armor you equip on a rider, it can be very complicated. After you read this guide, it should be significantly easier for you to equip your dragons to be the best they can be.
When it comes to gearing up a dragon, it highly depends on what the dragon needs. Every dragon has different needs depending on the class, and the spells. What that means is if the dragon has HP based spells, you should likely use HP based runes, glyphs, relics, but its not always that simple.
Warrior Class
These dragons have a flamethrower breath and tend to have higher health than other classes.
Warrior's tend to have a lot of health as stated above. Their flamethrower breath tends to lack major impact as you develop more in the game. Typically for warriors you would add attack based runes, glyphs, and relics to help with the poor breath damage.
Sorcerer Class
These dragons have a lock-on breath however usually rely on spells to kill towers ,typically having middle ground health.
Sorcerer's will have middle of the line health as stated above. Their lock-on breath typically locking onto only three towers before attacking with some exceptions. They tend to rely on spells to kill and disable towers, meaning they will typically need rage generation based runes, glyphs and relics.
Hunter Class
These dragons have a projectile breath that uses ammo to shoot, typically have lower health than sorcerers and warriors.
Hunter's tend to have lower health than the other classes listed above. Their projectile breath will use ammo thats shown in a bar beneath the health bar, the ammo is high impact and easy to spam. Hunters will need to have runes, glyphs and relics based on ammo and rage because they use both ammo and rage in great amounts.
Invoker Class
These dragons are like a hybrid of hunters and sorcerers however unlike hunters they have very limited ammo that end with a special spell called an "Invoke", and similarly to sorcerers they rely a lot on spells to kill towers.
Invoker's will tend to have health on the lower end of the spectrum like hunters. They will tend to have three ammo shots before a special invoke spell thats passive. Invoker's will typically rely on rage based runes, glyphs, relics.
Invokers cannot use ammo runes, glyphs, relics because they use a different kind of ammo from hunters.
Unfortunately, when it comes to spells it gets a whole other world of complexity added onto it. Sometimes spells can make you completely disregard the statements of runes, glyphs, and relics above! So it is highly important to understand the dragons spells and how they work aswell on top of the dragons class.
When it comes to equipping runes, glyphs, and relics, its important to understand the spells, because some spells require the dragon to have more attack, health, duration, and cooldown.
To understand what the spells will need and how they work, it is recommended that you use WDScripts wiki, and or NeonWonderland to get all the information on the spells and the dragon you are equipping gear on.
Attack spells tend to be based anywhere on attack power or even the way the spell does damage. If the spells description says the spell does x damage based on attack power then this spell will be an attack spell.
Health spells are similar to attack spells however they will be marked as modified Health points (mHP) or just health/healing.
Some spells will need longer duration to be effective, but most of the time its not fully necessary, it all boils down to the statement that its dependent on the dragons needs.
When it comes to cooldowns, it is a bit nit picky like with duration, some dragons don't need the cooldown reduction and others definitely need them, if a cooldown is 10 seconds, a 1 second cooldown reduction can be a lot more important than you may think.
The following example will show that dragons can be complex to put equipment on.
Please note this is just an example and does not reflect how one should gear the dragon, it goes into details on the dragon and suggestions for the equipment based off the dragons spells and class.
Tekzor Build Example
Hunter Class
To gear tekzor, you must consider the class and the spells.
Tekzor being a hunter class means you should definitely add some ammo and rage runes, glyphs, and relics.
Tekzor is pretty balanced spell wise! So when building Tekzor you want to consider using a mix of health and attack spells, they heal based off mHP and they do damage based on attack. However they are incredibly rage hungry, so its ideal to use super exotic, and ascended mythic runes, glyphs, relics that cover all those bases together. Tekzor also benefits in using both his legendary and mythic rune and glyph as they reduce the cooldown for their freeze spell.
Just from this example alone you can see it gets quite complex, and depending on both the dragon and the player things can and will change. It's always advised to ask others for their opinion, as another set of eyes can help distinguish both you as a players need and the dragons.
